Meditate With Devin

I teach drop in classes, weekend workshops and residential retreats in the DC area. Below you can find links to some of the meditation communities where I teach. There you can read more about the offerings and see a schedule of upcoming classes. The best way to learn about my offerings is to join my email list.

Insight Meditation Community of Washington

Wednesdays from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM at the River Road Unitarian Church in Bethesda, MD and online. I am part of a four person teaching team. We each teach about once a month. You can find the schedule and more information about the group here

Downtown Dharma:

Sundays from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM at Yoga District on 14th Street in NW Washington, DC and online. I teach with this group a few times a year. You can find the schedule and read more about the group on their website.

The Center for Mindful Living:

Saturdays from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM at Iona Senior Services. You can find out more about the Center for Mindful Living here.

Meditation Courses

MBSR: This is a secular, structured introductory course to meditation. It is a great way to learn some of the fundamental meditation techniques and concepts. You can find a free, self-paced online version here. Here in the DC area, Bill Mies teaches MBSR several times a year. You can find his website here. You can also search for other MBSR courses in person or online. There are many.

Jack Kornfield: Jack is one of my primary teachers. He offers many courses which you can find here. His website also includes links to free teachings, books, and upcoming events.

Tara Brach: Tara is one of my primary teachers and offers a number of meditation courses. Her website also contains thousands of free guided meditations and a calendar of upcoming events.

Meditation Retreat Centers

While there are many retreat centers around the country, the following are those that I can recommend based on personal experience or the recommendation of trusted friends. All of these retreat centers are affiliated with the “early Buddhist” or “Insight” traditions.

Seven Oaks - Madison, VA

The Insight Meditation Society – Barre, MA

Spirit Rock – Marin, CA

For a more traditional experience in the early Buddhist tradition in the Greater Washington Area, you can also visit Lion of Wisdom in Damascus, MD or The Bhavana Society near Capon Springs, WV.

Insight Timer

Insight Timer:

Here you can find some of Devin Maroney's guided meditations as well as thousands of others across a variety of traditions. The vast array of teachings and guidance on Insight Timer gives you lots to choose from, but can also be overwhelming.
